NRPA: National Recreation and Park Association
Overview
This redesign introduces a revolutionary approach to association website navigation: an intent-based selector that asks visitors what they want to accomplish before they ever scroll. Rather than forcing users to decode traditional navigation menus, the concept presents six clear options (“Advance my career,” “Find resources,” “Attend a conference,” and more), each routing visitors to personalized content journeys.
The hero section pairs an immersive park footage video with this six-option intent selector, creating an experience that feels both welcoming and purposeful. Immediately below, a statistics bar presents NRPA’s national impact (parks served, professionals certified, communities reached), establishing credibility within the first viewport.
The NRPA green palette (#00843D) anchors the design in the organization’s environmental mission, while the intent-based navigation system addresses a common association challenge: serving diverse audiences with dramatically different needs. Park directors, urban planners, community advocates, and job seekers all find their path within seconds.
Supporting sections include a prominent community showcase that celebrates member stories, an integrated events calendar highlighting the annual conference, and a research and data center that positions NRPA as the authoritative source for parks and recreation insights.
NRPA serves diverse audiences, from park professionals to community members to policymakers. The challenge was creating a navigation experience that would help each visitor type quickly find relevant resources.
