Marlboro Boys & Girls Club
Overview
This redesign transforms the Marlboro Boys & Girls Club’s digital presence from a dated, flyer-dependent website into a bold, mobile-first experience built for parents browsing on the sidelines. Established in 1968, the Mustangs program serves families across Upper Marlboro and Prince George’s County through 10+ youth sports including football, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, lacrosse, wrestling, and track & field.
The visual identity draws on an angular, high-energy design language: clipped corners, star-row dividers, and a navy-and-red palette that channels the intensity of game day. Bebas Neue display type delivers commanding headlines while Barlow provides clean body text, creating a look that feels athletic, modern, and unmistakably Mustangs.
The concept includes two fully designed page templates: a homepage showcasing all sports programs with registration CTAs, news, and events, and a sport-specific interior page (soccer) demonstrating age divisions, schedules, field locations, coach contacts, and downloadable forms. Both templates feature responsive breakpoints and a hamburger navigation system optimized for mobile use.
The Marlboro Boys & Girls Club needed a website that could replace its outdated, template-based site and serve parents who primarily access information from their phones during practices and games. Key challenges included:
- Sport pages locked in image-based flyers, impossible to search, update, or view on mobile
- Poor mobile experience for parents browsing on the sidelines
- Unstructured navigation making it difficult to find specific program information
- Outdated template design that didn’t reflect the energy of the organization
- No clear path from browsing to registration for new families
We designed a mobile-first, content-driven concept that replaces static flyers with structured, searchable sport pages. The solution includes:
- Bold angular visual identity with navy-and-red palette reflecting Mustangs branding
- Homepage with sport card grid, news section, events, and registration CTAs
- Sport-specific interior pages with age divisions, schedules, and coach contacts
- Responsive hamburger navigation optimized for mobile sideline browsing
- Structured content replacing image-based flyers for each program
- Dismissible alert bar for seasonal announcements and registration deadlines
